Excel also has feature to fit data in cells by shrinking the data. The data of cell or range of cells is fitted within its column width by reducing its font size. The font size of data of these cells is automatically increased or reduced when column width is changed.
Perform the following steps to shrink data into cells:
-First select a cell or range of cells.
-Select "Cells" command from "Format" menu.
-You can press shortcut key Ctrl+1 and "Format cells" dialog box will appear.
-Click on Alignment tab of that dialog box.
Select "Shrink to fit" check box. Click ok button to save these setting.
Wrapping data in Cells
Wrapping means, storing data within the specified width of column in multiple lines in the form of paragraph. When "Wrap Text" feature of Excel is applied to a cell or cells, the text automatically shifts to new line in the same cell when the length of text exceeds the width of the column. The cell height increases to accommodate the paragraph or multiple lines.
Perform the following steps to apply wrap text:
-First select the cell or range of cells.
-Select "Cells" command from "Format" menu or simple use shortcut key Ctrl+1, a new dialog box will appear with the title "Format Cells".
-Click on Alignment tab of that dialog box.
-Select the "Wrap text" check box.
-At the end click on Ok button to save the setting and close it.
